There are three residential areas in Doral Estates:
  • The Homes of Doral Estates
  • Doral Colony Townhomes
  • The Fairway Villas.
These communities meander through lakes and the six golf courses of the famous Doral Country Club enabling many residents to drive to the club in their own golf-carts.

The Homes of Doral Estates

This is the earliest community in the Estates and arguably the most prestigious in the whole of Doral. While there were certain floorplans offered in the beginning, (in the 70's and early 80's), so much customization has occurred since, that only a trained eye can now know what was a "Golfview" or a "Leeward". Another group of floor plans were offered later, and these models are a bit easier to spot, (the "Doral" or "St Andrews" for instance). Yet the community today does not have the repetitious "prettiness" of most planned communities in the area and indeed, many homes were custom built using independent architects. This is an established place that has harmoniously evolved over twenty years.

Driving through this area of substantial homes and manicured lawns, one may feel that this is everybody's idea of where they would most like to live in America, - not that it is easy to drive through! The residents value their privacy and the front entrance security is tough to pass unless one has a legitimate reason for so doing.

Many homes have their own private pools, but residents also share with Doral Colony a community pool and tennis courts.

At this time, (April 2002), 6 homes in this area are offered, asking from $599,000 to $1,980,000. Amazingly enough, out of the four vacant lots, two have returned to the market asking $299,900 for an interior lot and $375,000 for a waterfront lot. Doral Colony

Doral Colony was built in two phases, the first in 1983 and the second in 1988. Many of the homes feature panoramic lake and golf views - sometimes with no other houses in sight! There are several models, as follows: (Cited square footage is taken from the Tax Rolls of Dade County).

First Phase


  • Unit A - a one story, 3 bedroom 2½ bath at 2006 sq ft.
  • Unit C - a two story, 2 bedroom 2½ bath at 2129 sq ft.
  • Unit D - a two story, 3 bedroom 3 bath at 2350 sq ft.
  • Unit E - a one story, 2 bedroom 2 bath at 2378 sq ft.

All of the above models have double garages with electric openers and many have signifigant upgrades and improvements. Both the "C" and "D" models feature working fireplaces and the "A" model features two attractive interior atriums. At least one of the Phase 1 homes even has a private swimming pool. Maintenance fees are $460 a month (1999) which includes everything you can think of.
